For over 30 years, the Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching & Leadership have honored outstanding educators. The awards honor Pre-K through 12th grade teachers and rotate grade levels each year in the following categories: Pre-K-3rd grade, 4th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade. In addition, the awards honor one or more Pre-K through 12th grade school leaders each year. This year, nominations are being accepted for Illinois high school teachers and Pre-K-12th grade school leaders.

What Teacher Award Recipients Receive: This year, each award recipient will receive a $5,000 cash reward, experience a spring quarter sabbatical at Northwestern University, become a lifetime Fellow of the Golden Apple Academy of Educators and be honored on a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) one-hour TV program and livestream marketed to local school communities

What School Leader Award Recipients Receive: One or more Leadership Award recipients will receive a cash award of $10,000 to be used for professional development and a school project of his/her choosing, become a lifetime Fellow of the Golden Apple Academy of Educators and be honored on a one-hour Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) TV program and livestream marketed to local school communities.
