Statement on House Adjournment

State Representative Tim Butler (R-Springfield) released the statement below following today’s session adjournment:

“Today my House Republican colleagues and I offered to stay and work until a compromise has been reached on important issues facing the state. We offered to stay in Session until we reach an agreement on funding community colleges, public universities, and MAP grants. Or even better reach an agreement on a balanced state budget. We even filed a motion to vote on whether or not the House of Representatives would like to stay in Session to work during the month of March. Unfortunately, the Democrat majority chose to ignore our willingness to compromise and instead decided to skip town. The fact that we have reached eight months without a state budget and the House has adjourned until April 4 is outrageous. We should be working every day this month until we reach an agreement on a state budget.”
