State Representative Tim Butler (R-Springfield) presented House Resolution 577 to the Rochester Rockets girls soccer team today at Rochester High School before their coaches, friends and family. Rep. Butler congratulated the Rockets girls soccer team on winning the Class 1A State Championship.
The Rochester Rockets defeated Chicago Latin 6-1 in a hard-fought battle after a terrific season, the team finished the season with an impressive 25-3 record.
“Rochester High School is turning into the school of champions,” said Rep. Butler. “I am very proud of the girls soccer team for winning the state championship and I am also very proud of their 25-3 record. Only losing three games in one season is an accomplishment in itself.”
In the State semifinals game, the Rochester Rockets beat St. Thomas More of Champaign 3-1. The championship game started off strong for the Lady Rockets, who scored 2 goals and had a 2-1 lead at halftime; the Rockets exploded in the second half, scoring an additional 4 goals to win 6-1.
Included in House Resolution 577, Rep. Butler recognized each member of the Rockets and coaching staff. The hard-working members of the Rochester girls soccer team are Maddie Gleeson, Cayla Wiessing, Brooke Steil, Katie Cochran, Mady Schmidt, Aly Crum, Julia Meadows, Amanda Williams, Ashley Butler, Kylie Tucker, Sydney Lett, Ally Milnes, Baylee Smith, Riley Ross, Becca Joses, Carly Crouch, Kelsey Baron, Jamie Riedle, Maddie Capps, Maisyn Garland, Christen Campbell, Mandy Yeck, Emma Hughes, Kali Goertz, and Emma Chapman. The team’s head coach, Chad Kutscher, has coached girls soccer at Rochester High School for 8 years, the team’s assistant coaches are Brent Stuckey and Sarah Ryan.
Rep. Butler’s resolution concluded with the following message to the Rochester Rockets girls soccer team, “RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Rochester Rockets girls soccer team on the occasion of winning the Class 1A State Championship Title and wish them many more years of success to come.”
