Springfield … State Representative Tim Butler (R-Springfield) made the following comments regarding the House vote on a series of budget bills on Tuesday.
“As has been the case for the past few weeks, the votes in the House today were engineered by the majority party for nothing more than political theater. The idea that the Democrats would knowingly pass a budget that is over $4 billion out of balance just underscores their desire to hang onto the old way of doing business.
“We need to move past these games and actually work together to get things done for the citizens of Illinois. The Republicans in the Legislature and the Governor stand ready to work in a bipartisan fashion to pass a balanced budget. I would urge the Democrats to do the same.”
